On this episode of the 2000 Cubit Rule podcast, Mark Rowan sat down with entrepreneur, podcast host, and founder of EF3 Global, Elzie Flenard, for a powerful conversation about faith-driven leadership, personal mastery, dreams, and learning to build a business God's way.
The result is a refreshing reminder that true success isn't found in striving harder, but in surrendering deeper.
Elzie didn't begin his entrepreneurial journey as a Christian business coach. Like many entrepreneurs, he started by serving clients through podcast production and helping others amplify their message.
But over time, he sensed God repeatedly nudging him toward something more.
The message was simple:
"Be more faith forward."
At first, he resisted. The whisper came gently. Then stronger. Then through confirmations from other people.
Eventually, obedience required a shift in both his messaging and mission.
That's when Elzie began intentionally serving Christian entrepreneurs, helping them grow their businesses without drifting from their calling.
One of the most fascinating parts of the conversation centered around dreams.
Elzie shared how God often communicates through dreams, people, and repeated confirmations. Over time, he learned to journal these dreams and look for patterns and "breadcrumbs" that revealed God's direction.
Many believers dismiss dreams as random events during sleep. Yet throughout Scripture, God regularly used dreams to guide His people.
The key is paying attention.
When we create space for God to speak, whether through prayer, Scripture, dreams, or community, we begin to recognize His voice more clearly.
As Mark Rowan often says through the 2,000 Cubit Rule:
Make room for God to move.
Entrepreneurs often ask, "How do I find my purpose?"
Elzie offered a profound perspective:
You don't find your purpose. You unlock it.
Purpose isn't lost. It already exists within God's design for your life.
The challenge is creating the rhythms and disciplines that allow clarity to emerge.

He believes clarity grows through:
A one percent improvement every day compounds into transformation over time.
Perhaps the most powerful moment of the episode came when Elzie shared his personal health crisis.
While working full-time, building a business, serving in ministry, and constantly pushing himself, his body finally gave out.
Doctors discovered alarming health markers and immediately ordered medication.
The experience became a wake-up call.
God wasn't asking for endless striving.
He was inviting surrender.
Many Christian entrepreneurs unknowingly wear the badge of busyness as a sign of faithfulness. But Scripture paints a different picture.
Jesus invites us into rest.
The Kingdom is built from abiding, not burnout.
Success without alignment can still lead us away from God's best.
Personal mastery isn't self-reliance.
It's self-awareness under the lordship of Christ.
As Elzie explained, mastery is the endless journey of becoming more like Christ while learning to steward our gifts, habits, emotions, and relationships well.
True mastery means:
Ironically, the more we surrender to Christ, the more freedom we discover.
Jesus taught this paradox:
"Whoever loses his life for My sake will find it."
Kingdom leadership begins with surrender.
One of Elzie's central messages is simple:
Wear your crown daily.
A crown is not merely beauty or status.
A crown represents responsibility, stewardship, and service.
Even Jesus wore a crown of thorns before receiving glory.
Some days leadership feels heavy.
Some seasons feel uncertain.
But faithfulness means continuing to show up, even when progress seems slow.
The crown we wear today is ultimately laid at the feet of King Jesus.
Christian entrepreneurs have a unique opportunity.
Business is not separate from ministry.
Every team member, customer, and partnership becomes an opportunity to demonstrate Christ's love.
Your business can become a platform for discipleship.
You don't need millions of followers to make an eternal impact.
You simply need to faithfully show up, listen to God's voice, and remain aligned with His purpose.
Because when we make room for God to move, He often does more than we ever imagined
