Success doesn’t automatically bring peace.

Many Christian entrepreneurs build thriving businesses while quietly carrying questions they’ve been asking since childhood. Those questions often influence decisions, relationships, leadership, and even how they view God.

In a recent conversation on the 2000 Cubit Rule Podcast, executive coach and licensed counselor Nick Hunter, Founder of Sound Mind Executive Coaching, shared a framework that helps explain why.

He calls it the Primal Question.

The Question Beneath Every Decision

According to Nick, every person has core emotional needs. While we all share them, one question often rises above the others and quietly shapes the way we experience life.

Questions like:

Am I safe?

Am I loved?

Am I wanted?

Am I good enough?

These aren’t simply thoughts we have from time to time. They become lenses through which we interpret relationships, success, failure, criticism, and opportunity.

When those questions are answered with a confident “yes,” we tend to move forward with freedom.

When the answer feels like “no” or even “maybe,” we often find ourselves scrambling to earn validation, prove ourselves, or protect ourselves.

That scramble can show up everywhere.

In business.

In marriage.

In parenting.

Even in ministry.

Why High Performers Still Feel Stuck

Many entrepreneurs assume their biggest challenge is strategy.

Sometimes it is.

But often the greatest obstacle isn’t a lack of knowledge. It’s an unresolved belief about themselves.

Someone whose Primal Question is “Am I good enough?” may continually chase achievement, hoping the next accomplishment finally provides confidence.

Another person asking “Am I safe?” may avoid risks that God is actually calling them to take.

From the outside, both individuals may appear successful.

Internally, they’re exhausted.

Where These Questions Begin

Nick explained that many of these beliefs begin taking shape around ages nine or ten.

Experiences at school.

Family dynamics.

Friendships.

Moments of rejection.

Moments of affirmation.

Over time, those experiences become filters that shape how we interpret life.

The challenge is that once our minds adopt a belief, they often ignore evidence that contradicts it.

Someone who believes they aren’t good enough may overlook years of encouragement while magnifying one critical comment.

Replacing the Lie with Truth

As Christians, we don’t simply identify unhealthy beliefs.

We replace them with truth.

Scripture continually reminds us that our identity is found in Christ, not in performance.

God answers our deepest questions.

You are loved.

You are chosen.

You are accepted.

You have purpose.

Those truths become the foundation for healthy leadership.

Rather than trying to earn approval from clients, employees, or even family members, we begin leading from the security that already belongs to us through Christ.

Healthy Leaders Build Healthy Businesses

One insight from the conversation stood out.

Many executive coaching programs focus almost exclusively on business performance.

Nick intentionally focuses on the person.

Because the business never becomes healthier than the leader behind it.

A growing company cannot compensate for a neglected marriage.

Revenue cannot replace meaningful relationships.

Professional success loses much of its value if your personal life is falling apart.

Healthy leaders create healthy organizations because transformation begins on the inside.

The 2000 Cubit Rule

This conversation connects naturally with the heart behind the 2000 Cubit Rule.

In Joshua 3, Israel was instructed to keep about 2000 cubits between themselves and the Ark of the Covenant.

That space allowed everyone to clearly see where God was leading.

The same principle applies today.

Before rushing into another opportunity, another strategy, or another business decision, we need space to hear God’s voice.

Sometimes that space reveals not only where God is leading, but also what He’s healing.

The goal isn’t simply building a bigger business.

It’s becoming the person God created you to be while building it.

Final Thoughts

Every entrepreneur carries questions.

The difference is whether those questions continue controlling us or whether we allow God to answer them with truth.

Business growth matters.

Leadership matters.

But lasting impact begins with a healthy heart.

When your identity is rooted in Christ instead of performance, you no longer have to strive for approval.

You are free to serve, lead, and build from a place of confidence that God has already spoken over your life.

If you’ve never slowed down long enough to ask what question has been quietly driving your decisions, today might be the perfect time to begin.

Ready to Build the Message God Has Given You?

Your business is only one part of the calling God has placed on your life. If you’re ready to gain clarity around your message, strengthen your leadership, and build a pathway that helps more people experience what God has entrusted to you, we’d love to walk alongside you. Learn more >>>

Money has a way of revealing what we trust.

For some, it reveals fear. For others, it reveals pressure, pride, stress, or the constant feeling of never quite having enough. But when we bring our finances before God, money becomes more than numbers on a spreadsheet. It becomes a stewardship issue.

In this episode of the 2000 Cubit Rule, Mark Rowan sits down with Kevin Talcott, financial coach, speaker, and author of 1-Minute Money. Through Talcott Financial Coaching, Kevin helps people stress less about money, build meaningful wealth, and create a plan for the life they actually want to live.

But Kevin’s passion for financial coaching did not come from having everything figured out from the beginning. It came through a journey of learning, mistakes, loss, humility, and eventually a deeper understanding that everything belongs to God.

Learning Stewardship the Hard Way

Kevin did not grow up in church, and the word “stewardship” did not mean much to him until his early twenties. After coming to faith in Christ, he began to realize that money was not just something to earn, save, spend, or invest. It was something entrusted to him by God.

That realization changed everything.

Kevin had always been good with numbers and had a natural interest in saving, but he admits he did not always know how to manage money well beyond that. Like many people, he had to learn through trial and error.

One of the biggest turning points came after a painful financial mistake involving stock options trading. Kevin described it as a form of gambling. He was betting on an outcome he did not truly understand, hoping for a big return, and the result was a major loss.

In a single day, he lost five figures.

Sitting in that moment, watching the money disappear, Kevin realized something important: his life could not be based on money. His identity could not be tied to the size of his bank account. His money was separate from his soul.

That is a lesson many people need to hear.

Your self-worth is not your net worth.

When Money Becomes a Master

In the conversation, Mark pointed back to the words of Jesus about serving God or mammon. Money is not just a practical issue. It can become a spiritual issue when it takes the place of trust, obedience, or identity.

That is why biblical stewardship matters.

The world often teaches us to chase quick wins, bigger returns, and faster ways to get ahead. But the Kingdom of God teaches us something different. It teaches us to seek first the Kingdom, trust God, walk in wisdom, and remain faithful with what has been placed in our hands.

Kevin’s story is a powerful reminder that financial mistakes are not always about math. Sometimes they are about impatience. Sometimes they are about fear. Sometimes they are about greed. Sometimes they are about trying to force an outcome instead of walking in wisdom.

And in a world where online gambling, risky investing, sports betting, crypto speculation, and get-rich-quick thinking are more accessible than ever, this conversation is timely.

The question is not just, “Can I make money?”

The better question is, “Am I stewarding what God has given me?”

The Bible Has a Lot to Say About Money

Kevin helps clients by walking them through practical steps like budgeting, debt payoff, saving, investing, and planning. But for those who want a biblical foundation, he also points them back to principles found in Scripture.

As Kevin shared, the Bible has a lot to say about money. And much of it comes back to simple, timeless wisdom.

Save. Give. Invest wisely. Avoid squandering. Live below your means. Be faithful with what you have.

Kevin called it “God’s and grandma’s principles around money.” In other words, it is not always complicated, but it does require humility and follow-through.

That is often where people struggle.

Many people earn money, but they do not keep it. They work hard, but they do not have a plan. They want peace, but they do not have accountability. They want freedom, but they keep repeating the same patterns.

This is where financial coaching can be so helpful. A coach does not do the work for you, but a good coach helps you see clearly, make better decisions, and stay accountable to what you said you wanted.

What Your Budget Says About Your Priorities

One of the most challenging parts of the conversation came when Kevin talked about time and money as indicators of priority.

He said, “You show me your calendar, I’ll show you what your priorities are. You show me your budget, I’ll show you what your priorities are.”

That is a hard but helpful thought.

Where our money goes matters. Where our time goes matters. Both reveal something about what we value.

This ties directly into the heart of the 2000 Cubit Rule, making room for God to move in our business, ministry, and life. In Joshua 3:4, the Israelites were told to keep distance between themselves and the ark of the covenant because they had not passed that way before.

That is true for us too.

We do not know the future. We have not walked tomorrow yet. We need God’s wisdom, direction, and presence in every area of life, including our finances.

Making room for God does not always mean stopping everything for hours at a time. Sometimes it looks like pausing before a financial decision. Sometimes it looks like praying before taking a risk. Sometimes it looks like asking for wise counsel instead of moving out of impulse.

Sometimes it looks like choosing stewardship over stress.

The Purpose Behind 1-Minute Money

Kevin’s book, 1-Minute Money, was created to make financial concepts simple and approachable.

The idea started with his weekly newsletter, where he would share short financial insights that could be read in about a minute. Eventually, those ideas became a book filled with short, practical chapters designed to help people learn quickly and apply what they are learning.

Kevin’s goal was not to make finance overwhelming. His goal was to make it understandable.

That matters because many people avoid dealing with money because it feels confusing, intimidating, or dry. But when financial principles are broken down clearly, people can begin to take action.

And action is the key.

As Kevin said in the episode, information without application is nothing. You can read books, watch videos, listen to podcasts, and gather knowledge, but if nothing changes in how you live, spend, save, give, or plan, then the information has not yet become transformation.

Humility Opens the Door to Change

Toward the end of the conversation, Kevin encouraged anyone who feels hopeless about money. His message was simple: there is hope.

But hope often begins with humility.

The people who make progress with their finances are not always the ones who know the most. They are often the ones willing to admit they do not know everything. They are willing to learn. They are willing to ask for help. They are willing to change.

That is true in finances, and it is true in faith.

Mark closed the conversation with a reminder from 1 Peter 5:6: “Humble yourself before the mighty hand of God, and he will exalt you in due time.”

We can humble ourselves, or we can be humbled. Most of us have experienced both. But when we choose humility, we place ourselves in a position to receive wisdom, correction, and grace.

And that is where real growth begins.

Final Thought

Money is not your master.

Money is not your identity.

Money is not your source.

It is something God has entrusted to you. And whether you are in debt, building wealth, recovering from mistakes, learning to budget, or simply trying to become more faithful with what you have, there is hope.

Your self-worth is not your net worth.

You can learn. You can grow. You can steward better. And most importantly, you can invite God into the process.

Ready to Make Room for God in Your Message?

If God has given you a message, resource, book, framework, or idea, but you need help making it clear and usable, we would love to help.

Running a business can be a blessing, but it can also become overwhelming fast.

Many Christian small business owners started with a clear sense of calling. They had a gift, a skill, a burden, or a vision they believed God placed in their heart. But somewhere along the way, the business grew, the demands multiplied, the people issues got complicated, the finances became harder to track, and the calling that once felt clear started getting buried under chaos.

That is exactly the space Diane Erdman and Brian Gruidl are helping Christian business owners navigate.

On this episode of the 2000 Cubit Rule, Mark Rowan sat down with Diane and Brian, of Call to Lead, a faith-based leadership mastermind for Christian small business owners. Together, they bring decades of corporate leadership, people and culture expertise, financial leadership, and operational experience into a space where business owners can be equipped to lead with faith, clarity, and courage.

Helping Christian Business Owners Lead With Clarity

Diane spent more than 25 years as an executive people and culture leader, walking into hard rooms, helping organizations address broken trust, struggling teams, and leadership gaps. But over time, she realized her calling was not just to fix organizations. It was to ignite the leaders inside them.

Brian brings more than 25 years of financial and operational leadership, including experience with major organizations like Target, Disney, and Sun Country Airlines. His strength is helping business owners understand the story their numbers are telling and how to build better processes around the work they are called to do.

Together, Diane and Brian noticed something many small business owners experience. They are gifted at their craft, but no one taught them how to lead the next level of growth.

A dentist, contractor, HVAC owner, speech therapist, consultant, or professional service provider may be excellent at what they do. But running the business requires a different kind of leadership. It requires clarity, capacity, systems, culture, financial stewardship, and a renewed connection to calling.

The Three Needs: Clarity, Capacity, and Calling

One of the strongest themes in the conversation was the need for Christian business owners to come back to three core areas:

Clarity: Where is the business going? What is the mission? What needs to be simplified?

Capacity: What systems, processes, and support need to be built so the owner is not constantly overwhelmed?

Calling: Why did God call this person to build this in the first place?

That last piece matters deeply.

Many business owners start from a place of passion, purpose, and obedience. But when the business grows, the pressure grows too. Suddenly, the owner is spending more time putting out fires than walking in the calling that launched the work.

Call to Lead helps business owners step back, look honestly at what is happening, and rebuild around a stronger foundation.

Faith Is Not Separate From Business

One of the most important parts of the conversation was the reminder that Christian leadership is not limited to church settings.

Discipleship can happen in business.

Leadership can reflect Jesus.

Culture can be shaped by biblical values.

A business owner can lead people well before those people ever walk into a church or fully understand the gospel.

Diane shared how simply showing up as a Christian leader in the workplace made an impact on someone who later began going to church and growing in faith. It was not because she preached at him every day. It was because he saw something different in how she lived, led, and responded.

That is a powerful reminder for every Christian business owner. Your business is not just a place to make money. It can be a place where people see the character of Christ through how you lead.

God Is a God of Order

Another major theme was the importance of order.

Sometimes Christian leaders can fall into the trap of thinking that faith means ignoring structure. But trusting God does not mean operating in chaos.

God is a God of order. Creation reflects order. Scripture reflects order. Stewardship requires order.

That means your business needs processes. It needs clean financial visibility. It needs healthy communication. It needs systems that support the work instead of creating more confusion.

Brian made the point that technology is not the solution by itself. Technology is a tool. The real solution starts with process. Once the process is clear, the right tools can help support and scale it.

That is a key lesson for business owners who keep adding more software, more platforms, and more disconnected systems without ever solving the underlying problem.

The Devil Shows Up in the Chaos

Diane challenged the familiar phrase, “the devil is in the details.”

Her perspective was different. The devil often shows up in the chaos.

That is where business owners get distracted, discouraged, reactive, and overwhelmed. Chaos can pull leaders away from prayer, clear thinking, healthy decisions, and the calling God gave them.

But when leaders slow down, seek God, and bring order to the business, they begin to see where God has been present all along.

This connects beautifully with the heart of the 2000 Cubit Rule, making room for God to lead. When leaders are too consumed by chaos, it becomes harder to recognize where God is moving. But when they create space, listen, and build wisely, they can follow with greater confidence.

Business Owners Do Not Have to Build Alone

One of the most practical takeaways from the conversation is that Christian business owners need support.

No one carries every gift.

Some people are gifted in finance. Others in culture. Others in operations, messaging, leadership, technology, or discipleship. The body of Christ works best when every joint supplies.

That is why masterminds, advisors, coaches, and trusted collaborators can be so valuable. They help owners see what they cannot see when they are buried inside the day-to-day demands of the business.

For many small business owners, the issue is not a lack of calling. The issue is that the calling needs support, structure, and wise counsel around it.

Final Encouragement for Christian Business Leaders

If you are a Christian business owner feeling overwhelmed, this conversation is a reminder that God has not forgotten the calling He gave you.

The chaos may be loud, but it does not have to define the future of your business.

You can come back to clarity.

You can build capacity.

You can lead with faith.

You can create order.

You can disciple people through how you show up every day.

And you can keep making room for God to move in your business, your ministry, and your life.

Ready to Bring More Order to Your Message and Systems?

At SheepFeast, we help Christian leaders, speakers, authors, coaches, and business owners clarify their message, simplify their systems, and amplify their impact.

Every man needs more than motivation. He needs brotherhood.

In this episode of the 2000 Cubit Rule, Mark Rowan sits down with Warren Mainard, National Director of IMPACT Players, for a powerful conversation about identity, calling, leadership, marriage, fatherhood, and the kind of community men need in order to grow.

With more than 30 years of ministry and leadership experience, Warren has walked through seasons of fruitfulness, hardship, transition, and rebuilding. His story is a reminder that God is not done with a man just because one season ends. Sometimes the painful place becomes the doorway into a clearer calling.

For Warren, that calling was summarized in two simple phrases: magnify Christ and multiply His Kingdom.

When Ministry Becomes Heavy

Warren spent many years in pastoral ministry, including church planting in Seattle. The work was meaningful, but it also came with significant weight.

He spoke honestly about the pressure many pastors and ministry leaders face today. In many churches, pastors are expected to preach, counsel, lead, market, manage, inspire, administrate, and carry the spiritual weight of the congregation. But biblically, the work of ministry is not supposed to rest on one person.

Pastors are called to equip the saints for the work of ministry.

That distinction matters. Warren explained that too many people in the church have become spectators, watching from the stands while others carry the load. But the call of an impact player is different.

An impact player gets out of the bleachers and onto the field.

That picture is central to Warren’s work with IMPACT Players. The goal is to help men stop sitting on the sidelines of their faith, family, church, workplace, and community. Men are called to step forward, take responsibility, and make plays for the Kingdom of God.

Losing a Title, Finding a Calling

After years of ministry, Warren walked through a painful transition. Leaving the church plant brought questions about identity and purpose.

Who am I if I am not a pastor?
Who am I if I do not have the title?
Is God done with me?

Those are not small questions. Many men wrestle with identity when a career changes, a ministry season ends, a business fails, or a role shifts. But in that valley, God reminded Warren that his calling was not dependent on a title.

He did not need a position, platform, or paycheck to magnify Christ and multiply His Kingdom.

That reminder became a filter for his life. If an opportunity fit that calling, he could consider it. If it did not, he could let it go. In that clarity, God began opening the door for Warren to serve men through IMPACT Players.

What began as a small ministry in Seattle has now grown into a national movement, helping thousands of men discover what it means to become better husbands, fathers, leaders, and followers of Jesus.

Why Men Need Real Brotherhood

One of the strongest themes from the conversation was the need for men to have a band of brothers.

Warren pointed to David as an example. David was gifted, called, anointed, and courageous, but he still needed mighty men around him. The one season where David was isolated from his band of brothers was also the season where he fell into serious sin.

That is not a coincidence.

Isolation is dangerous for men. It makes them vulnerable spiritually, emotionally, relationally, and morally. Many men assume friendship is optional once they become adults. They focus on career, marriage, parenting, bills, church, and responsibility, but slowly lose meaningful connection with other men.

IMPACT Players challenges that mindset.

A man cannot afford to live isolated. He needs other men who will encourage him, sharpen him, challenge him, pray for him, and walk with him through the real battles of life.

Not surface-level connection. Not just sports talk. Not just casual acquaintances.

Real brotherhood.

Discipleship Through the Lens of Relationship

IMPACT Players exists to inspire men to be great husbands, fathers, and leaders by equipping them to thrive in the relationships that matter most.

That is a strategic and practical approach to discipleship.

Many men may not begin by saying, “I want to be discipled.” But they will often admit:

I want to be a better husband.
I want to be a better father.
I want to be a better leader.
I want my life to matter.

Warren explained that those desires create a discipleship pathway. To become a better husband, a man must learn to love like Christ. To become a better father, he must understand the heart of his Heavenly Father. To become a better leader, he must learn to walk in the fruit of the Spirit.

In other words, helping a man grow in his key relationships becomes a bridge to helping him grow in Christ.

The Power of In-Person Community

IMPACT Players offers monthly breakfast gatherings, cohorts, leadership development, online opportunities, and seasonal challenges. But Warren emphasized that in-person community is deeply important.

He used the word “incarnational,” meaning in the flesh.

Jesus did not come as a distant message. He came in person. He came near.

That matters for men’s ministry. Digital tools can be useful, and online cohorts can help men take a first step, but there is something powerful about men gathering face to face, sharing a meal, telling the truth, and walking together.

After the isolation many experienced in and after 2020, Warren sees the need for in-person brotherhood as more urgent than ever.

The enemy wants to isolate the sheep from the flock. God brings men into the strength of godly community.

Impact Hard and the Call to Love God Fully

Warren also shared about Impact Hard, a 75-day challenge inspired in part by his own experience combining physical discipline with spiritual growth.

Years ago, Warren went through a season where he committed to intense physical training while also reading through the Bible. That combination changed him. He lost weight, grew stronger, and experienced deep spiritual renewal.

Impact Hard builds on that idea by challenging men to pursue God with their whole being.

Jesus said the greatest commandment is to love the Lord with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. Warren highlighted how interconnected those areas are. A man’s spiritual life, emotional health, physical body, mental focus, relationships, habits, and daily discipline all affect one another.

If a man neglects his body, it can affect his mind and soul.
If he neglects time with God, he can look strong on the outside while collapsing on the inside.
If he neglects relationships, he can become vulnerable to discouragement, temptation, and isolation.

Impact Hard is not about physical achievement for its own sake. It is about men learning to pursue God with everything they are.

Heart. Soul. Mind. Strength.

God’s Plan Is Still the Best Plan

One of the most encouraging parts of Warren’s story is how early God began shaping his life.

As a teenager, Warren was going down the wrong path. After a major move from Washington to Florida, God used a simple Scripture reference from Jeremiah 29:11-13 to awaken something in him. Warren began to understand that God had a plan for his life, and that the way to discover the plan was to seek the God of the plan.

That truth still matters.

God’s plan is not always easy. It may include transitions, losses, surrender, and seasons that feel unclear. But His plan is still good. His calling is still worth following. His purpose is still better than anything we can build on our own.

For Warren, that journey has now become a mission to help men become impact players in the places God has assigned them.

A Challenge for Men

The challenge from this conversation is simple but weighty.

Do not live isolated.
Do not sit in the bleachers.
Do not reduce your walk with God to one area of life.
Do not assume your title is your calling.
Do not neglect the relationships that matter most.

Get around men who will sharpen you.
Love your wife well.
Lead your family with humility.
Serve your church with faithfulness.
Take care of your body.
Renew your mind.
Feed your soul.
Use your strength for the glory of God.

Every man needs a band of brothers, and every man is called to make an impact.

In today’s world of hustle culture, entrepreneurs are constantly told to work harder, sleep less, and grind until success arrives. But what if God’s design for business looks different?

On this episode of the 2000 Cubit Rule podcast, Mark Rowan sat down with entrepreneur, podcast host, and founder of EF3 Global, Elzie Flenard, for a powerful conversation about faith-driven leadership, personal mastery, dreams, and learning to build a business God’s way.

The result is a refreshing reminder that true success isn’t found in striving harder, but in surrendering deeper.

From Podcast Producer to Faith-Forward Entrepreneur

Elzie didn’t begin his entrepreneurial journey as a Christian business coach. Like many entrepreneurs, he started by serving clients through podcast production and helping others amplify their message.

But over time, he sensed God repeatedly nudging him toward something more.

The message was simple:

“Be more faith forward.”

At first, he resisted. The whisper came gently. Then stronger. Then through confirmations from other people.

Eventually, obedience required a shift in both his messaging and mission.

That’s when Elzie began intentionally serving Christian entrepreneurs, helping them grow their businesses without drifting from their calling.

How God Speaks Through Dreams and Confirmation

One of the most fascinating parts of the conversation centered around dreams.

Elzie shared how God often communicates through dreams, people, and repeated confirmations. Over time, he learned to journal these dreams and look for patterns and “breadcrumbs” that revealed God’s direction.

Many believers dismiss dreams as random events during sleep. Yet throughout Scripture, God regularly used dreams to guide His people.

The key is paying attention.

When we create space for God to speak, whether through prayer, Scripture, dreams, or community, we begin to recognize His voice more clearly.

As Mark Rowan often says through the 2,000 Cubit Rule:

Make room for God to move.

Clarity Comes Through Consistency

Entrepreneurs often ask, “How do I find my purpose?”

Elzie offered a profound perspective:

You don’t find your purpose. You unlock it.

Purpose isn’t lost. It already exists within God’s design for your life.

The challenge is creating the rhythms and disciplines that allow clarity to emerge.

This is the heart behind The Daily Crown, Elzie’s devotional community focused on helping leaders pursue daily alignment with God.

He believes clarity grows through:

Daily consistency

Intentional reflection

Prayer and surrender

Small acts of obedience

Continual growth

A one percent improvement every day compounds into transformation over time.

The Hidden Danger of Hustle Culture

Perhaps the most powerful moment of the episode came when Elzie shared his personal health crisis.

While working full-time, building a business, serving in ministry, and constantly pushing himself, his body finally gave out.

Doctors discovered alarming health markers and immediately ordered medication.

The experience became a wake-up call.

God wasn’t asking for endless striving.

He was inviting surrender.

Many Christian entrepreneurs unknowingly wear the badge of busyness as a sign of faithfulness. But Scripture paints a different picture.

Jesus invites us into rest.

The Kingdom is built from abiding, not burnout.

Success without alignment can still lead us away from God’s best.

What Is Personal Mastery?

Personal mastery isn’t self-reliance.

It’s self-awareness under the lordship of Christ.

As Elzie explained, mastery is the endless journey of becoming more like Christ while learning to steward our gifts, habits, emotions, and relationships well.

True mastery means:

Becoming a better leader

Becoming a better spouse or parent

Learning from failure

Confronting our blind spots

Surrendering control to God

Ironically, the more we surrender to Christ, the more freedom we discover.

Jesus taught this paradox:

“Whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.”

Kingdom leadership begins with surrender.

Wear Your Crown Daily

One of Elzie’s central messages is simple:

Wear your crown daily.

A crown is not merely beauty or status.

A crown represents responsibility, stewardship, and service.

Even Jesus wore a crown of thorns before receiving glory.

Some days leadership feels heavy.

Some seasons feel uncertain.

But faithfulness means continuing to show up, even when progress seems slow.

The crown we wear today is ultimately laid at the feet of King Jesus.

Final Thoughts

Christian entrepreneurs have a unique opportunity.

Business is not separate from ministry.

Every team member, customer, and partnership becomes an opportunity to demonstrate Christ’s love.

Entrepreneurship often comes with stories of growth, success, and innovation. But sometimes the most powerful stories are those forged through loss, suffering, and restoration.

In this episode of the 2000 Cubit Rule, host Mark Rowan sits down with entrepreneur, author, and cybersecurity leader Brad Hawkins to discuss what it truly means to follow God through every season of business and life.

Brad’s journey is one of remarkable highs and devastating lows, yet through it all, he discovered a deeper truth: our greatest security is not found in wealth, success, or even business, but in abiding in Christ.

Building Businesses with Family and Purpose

Brad is no stranger to entrepreneurship. Through his family office, he and his children operate multiple businesses spanning cybersecurity, event venues, oil and gas, and other ventures.

For Brad, business has always been more than profit.

His vision has been generational, building enterprises where family works together, grows together, and serves together. It’s a model that reflects the biblical pattern of generations working side by side to steward God’s gifts.

As Psalm 145:4 reminds us:

“One generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts.”

When Everything Falls Apart

Years ago, Brad operated a successful investment company. Believing he had trustworthy leadership in place, he delegated operations to a longtime acquaintance.

Then disaster struck.

Authorities discovered that the individual had been running a Ponzi scheme in his own company. Though Brad was ultimately found innocent, his assets were seized during the investigation. Businesses collapsed. Payroll disappeared. Years of work vanished almost overnight.

The experience left Brad wrestling with difficult questions:

Does God really care?

Why would He allow this?

Is He even there?

Like many believers walking through suffering, Brad found himself in a season of depression, confusion, and spiritual struggle.

Yet God was not finished writing the story.

The Patio That Changed Everything

A friend invited Brad and his wife to what they thought would be a marriage retreat. Instead, they encountered something unexpected: a simple invitation to study Scripture and journal what God revealed.

Skeptical but willing, Brad accepted the challenge.

One morning, while reading the Bible on his patio, time seemed to disappear. Hours passed without him realizing it. By day’s end, he had pages of notes he didn’t even remember writing.

As he read through them, he discovered something extraordinary.

God had been answering his deepest questions.

That moment launched a lifelong journey of abiding in Christ and seeking God’s voice through Scripture.

What Does It Mean to Abide?

One of Brad’s central teachings comes from John 15, where Jesus says:

“Abide in me, and I in you.”

Brad uses the image of a vine and branches to explain this truth:

Jesus is the Vine.

Believers are the branches.

The Holy Spirit is like the sap flowing through the vine.

God the Father is the Gardener.

Our responsibility is not to manufacture fruit.

Our responsibility is simply to remain connected to Jesus.

When we abide, fruit naturally follows.

As Brad explains, many believers focus on producing results while neglecting the relationship that produces those results.

The secret is not striving harder.

The secret is staying connected.

The Litmus Test: Peace and Joy

How do you know when you’ve drifted away from the Vine?

Brad points to Romans 14:17:

“For the kingdom of God is righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.”

His insight is simple yet profound:

If you’re not walking in peace and joy, it’s time to reconnect.

The answer isn’t trying harder.

The answer is surrender.

Through worship, thanksgiving, and returning to God’s presence, we step back into the reality of His kingdom.

No matter how far we’ve wandered, the invitation remains open.

Turn around.

The Kingdom is closer than we think.

Business as Discipleship

One of the most compelling parts of Brad’s story is how he views business itself.

For him, every company becomes an opportunity to invest in people.

Employees have experienced healing in marriages. Lives have been transformed. Some have even encountered Christ simply by observing leadership that consistently demonstrates peace, integrity, and love.

This reflects the heart of discipleship.

As followers of Jesus, we don’t leave our faith at the church door. We carry it into boardrooms, workplaces, and everyday interactions.

Business becomes ministry when we lead people toward the character of Christ.

Cybersecurity and Kingdom Stewardship

Brad’s company, SaferNet, now expanding under Infinite Protection, exists to protect businesses from cyber threats.

But even cybersecurity reflects a larger spiritual reality.

As Brad describes it, God creates and the enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy. Technology can be used for tremendous good, including spreading the Gospel around the world, but it also requires wise stewardship and protection.

His mission is not simply securing devices.

It’s helping people use technology safely to advance God’s purposes.

Cast Your Treasures into Eternity

Near the end of the conversation, Brad shared a perspective that summarizes his life’s philosophy:

“Our job is to focus less on our seventy or ninety years on earth and more on eternity.”

Jesus instructed believers to store up treasures in heaven.

Every act of obedience, every business decision, every person served becomes part of an eternal investment strategy.

When we abide in Christ, business is no longer merely about profit.

It becomes preparation for eternity.

Final Thoughts

Brad Hawkins’ story reminds us that failure is never final when God is involved.

Loss can become restoration.

Disappointment can become discipleship.

And even the darkest seasons can become the foundation for an unshakable life.

As entrepreneurs and leaders, perhaps the greatest question we can ask isn’t, “How do I grow my business?”

It’s this:

“Am I abiding in the Vine?”

Because when we make room for God to move, everything changes.

Simplify Your Systems, Amplify Your Calling

At SheepFeast, we believe technology should support your calling, not compete with it. Too many Christian entrepreneurs spend their time managing disconnected tools, chasing notifications, and putting out fires instead of focusing on the people and purpose God has entrusted to them.

The 2,000 Cubit Rule is about making room for God to move. Sometimes that means simplifying the systems behind your business so you can abide more fully in what God is asking you to do.

That’s why we created Farmwork, an all-in-one platform designed to help Christian leaders steward relationships, automate follow-up, organize communication, and remove unnecessary complexity. When your systems serve your mission, you create more space for discipleship, leadership, and Kingdom impact.

Success is often sold as the ultimate destination.

Work harder. Make more money. Build the business. Buy the house. Reach the next milestone.

Yet many people discover that after climbing the mountain, they still feel empty.

That was one of the powerful themes discussed when entrepreneur, investor, author, and speaker Eddie Austin joined the 2000 Cubit Rule podcast.

As the founder of JE Capital, Eddie has spent decades building businesses, investing in real estate, and helping others create wealth. But his story is about much more than money. It is about discovering the difference between financial success and true freedom.

From Welder to Wealth

Eddie’s journey started far from the world of investing.

Homeschooled as a teenager, he learned welding at just 12 years old and spent years working in the trades. Along the way, he noticed something that deeply impacted him.

Many of the men he worked beside had dreams.

They wanted to travel. Spend time with family. Enjoy retirement. Pursue the things they loved.

But too often, they postponed those dreams until “someday.”

Many worked their entire lives only to discover they lacked the money, health, or time to enjoy the freedom they had hoped for.

That realization planted a question in Eddie’s mind:

Is there a better way to build a life?

The Problem With Chasing Success

Like many entrepreneurs, Eddie became focused on achievement.

Business growth.

Financial goals.

Material success.

The next opportunity.

The next milestone.

But eventually he reached a point where he realized something wasn’t right.

Despite achieving many of the things he thought would bring fulfillment, he found himself feeling empty.

The cars, the accomplishments, and the financial wins could not provide what he was truly searching for.

Many business owners experience the same challenge.

They spend years building a successful life only to discover they neglected the relationships, purpose, and calling that mattered most.

The Turning Point

One of the most powerful moments from Eddie’s story happened during a difficult season.

Facing challenges in business and life, he found himself pulled over on the side of the road in prayer.

In that moment, he realized he had been trying to control everything.

He had been gripping the steering wheel tightly, convinced that success depended entirely on his own effort.

Then he surrendered.

He literally placed his hands in his lap and told God:

“I am taking my hands off the wheel.”

It became a defining moment in his journey.

Not because he stopped working.

Not because he stopped pursuing excellence.

But because he stopped believing everything depended on him.

The Missing Ingredient in Business

One lesson emerged repeatedly throughout the conversation:

Prayer is not a last resort.

It is a business strategy.

Eddie shared how he and his partners were working to save a struggling company while raising millions of dollars in investment capital.

During the process, they began praying together consistently.

Opportunities opened.

Relationships formed.

Funding appeared.

Then something interesting happened.

Once things started going well, they stopped praying as frequently.

Progress slowed.

Momentum disappeared.

Eventually they recognized what had changed.

The problem wasn’t effort.

The problem was dependence.

Prayer had shifted from being a daily necessity to an occasional activity.

The experience became a reminder that success should never replace dependence on God.

Wealth as Stewardship

One of the most refreshing aspects of Eddie’s approach is that he doesn’t view wealth as the end goal.

He views it as stewardship.

Money is a tool.

Investments are tools.

Businesses are tools.

Real estate is a tool.

The real question is whether those tools are being used for God’s purposes.

Biblical stewardship recognizes that everything ultimately belongs to God.

We are managers, not owners.

When viewed through that lens, wealth becomes less about accumulation and more about impact.

How can we help people?

How can we strengthen communities?

How can we create opportunities for others?

How can we advance God’s purposes in the marketplace?

Those questions change everything.

True Freedom Looks Different

Many people think freedom means having enough money to stop working.

But true freedom runs much deeper.

Freedom is living in alignment with God’s purpose.

Freedom is knowing your identity is not tied to your bank account.

Freedom is having peace regardless of market conditions.

Freedom is trusting God more than your circumstances.

Freedom is being obedient even when the outcome is uncertain.

That kind of freedom cannot be purchased.

It can only be discovered through relationship with God.

A Challenge for Christian Entrepreneurs

If you’re building a business, growing a ministry, or pursuing financial success, consider this question:

Are you building wealth, or are you building a life?

The two are not always the same.

Success is not measured by what you accumulate.

It is measured by faithfulness.

The businesses that leave the greatest impact are often led by people who understand that profits matter, but purpose matters more.

As Eddie reminded listeners, the goal is not simply to make money.

The goal is to live a life of stewardship, freedom, and obedience.

When those things are in place, success becomes a byproduct rather than the destination.

And that’s a wealth worth pursuing.

In a recent episode of the 2000 Cubit Rule podcast, Andrew joined Mark Rowan for a fascinating conversation about AI, data, generosity, and how Christian leaders can wisely navigate the rapidly changing world of technology.

The discussion explored everything from artificial intelligence and church trends to donor-advised funds and the future crisis of purpose many people may face as technology reshapes work and culture.

From Theme Parks to Kingdom Analytics

Andrew’s journey into analytics was anything but predictable.

Growing up around the theme park industry through his father’s work, Andrew originally pursued design and tourism. He later worked with churches and organizations connected to the theme park and experience design world, including work around church environments and community engagement.

But while serving churches, he noticed a major problem.

Many ministries were making huge decisions, including multimillion-dollar building projects, without truly understanding their communities.

That realization eventually led to the creation of Kingdom Analytics, an organization focused on helping churches, schools, ministries, and Christian businesses better understand the people they are called to serve.

Understanding the “Signs of the Times”

Andrew compared modern analytics to the biblical tribe of Issachar, described as leaders who “understood the signs of the times” and knew what Israel should do.

The goal of Kingdom Analytics is not manipulation or replacing prayer and discernment.

Instead, it is about stewardship.

By studying community trends, demographics, family struggles, and behavioral patterns, churches can better identify real ministry needs in their communities.

For example:

Communities struggling with addiction may need recovery ministries

Areas facing loneliness may need stronger community groups

Families under financial stress may need support and counseling resources

The information already exists. The question is whether churches will use it wisely and redemptively.

AI Is Changing Everything

One of the most compelling parts of the conversation focused on artificial intelligence.

Andrew warned that the Church must prepare for what he called a coming “crisis of purpose.” As AI automates more work, many people who have built their identity around careers may struggle to understand their value and purpose.

He explained that previous technological shifts happened gradually, but AI is advancing exponentially.

That means Christian leaders cannot afford to ignore it.

At the same time, Andrew emphasized that AI itself is not inherently evil. Like any tool, it can be used redemptively or destructively.

He encouraged churches and ministries to develop “green light, yellow light, red light” categories for AI use:

Green light: Helpful, ethical, redemptive uses

Yellow light: Uses requiring caution and discernment

Red light: Uses that replace spiritual responsibility or violate biblical values

One memorable phrase from the conversation was:

“Pray before you prompt.”

That mindset reminds believers that wisdom should still come from God first, not simply from technology.

The Hidden Battle for Time

Another major theme was distraction.

Andrew shared research showing that the average American spends roughly forty hours per week on screens outside of work.

That statistic reveals more than just entertainment habits. It points to a deeper issue involving attention, relationships, and spiritual focus.

As AI-generated content becomes more personalized, people risk becoming trapped in increasingly isolated digital worlds.

For Christian leaders, this creates both a challenge and an opportunity:

How do we help people reconnect to authentic community?

How do we disciple people whose attention is constantly fragmented?

How do we make room for God to move in a distracted culture?

These are not future questions anymore. They are present realities.

Generosity with Wisdom

The conversation also took an unexpected but highly practical turn into generosity and stewardship.

Andrew discussed donor-advised funds, a financial strategy that can help Christians give more effectively and tax efficiently.

Rather than giving only from post-tax cash income, donor-advised funds allow appreciated assets to be given in ways that can increase overall Kingdom impact while reducing unnecessary tax burdens.

His heart behind the strategy was simple:

Steward resources wisely

Increase generosity

Expand Kingdom impact

Andrew emphasized that his long-term passion is helping Christians increase their capacity to give strategically and generously.

A Time of Opportunity

Despite the serious topics surrounding AI and technology, Andrew repeatedly emphasized hope over fear.

The rapid changes happening in culture create enormous opportunities for the Church to lead with wisdom, compassion, and truth.

The key is not rejecting technology blindly or embracing it recklessly.

The key is discernment.

Churches, ministries, and Christian businesses that understand both people and technology will be uniquely positioned to serve communities in powerful ways over the coming decade.

There are battles many Christian men fight in silence. Outwardly, life may appear stable. Ministry continues. Business grows. Families attend church. But beneath the surface, shame, secrecy, and addiction quietly erode the What Happens When Hidden Sin Finally Comes Into the Light?

There are battles many Christian men fight in silence. Outwardly, life may appear stable. Ministry continues. Business grows. Families attend church. But beneath the surface, shame, secrecy, and addiction quietly erode the soul.

In a recent episode of the 2000 Cubit Rule podcast, Scott Marsh shared his deeply personal story of pornography addiction, confession, restoration, and healing. His testimony is not just about failure. It is about what happens when hidden darkness finally meets the light of Christ.

Scott’s journey took him from the aerospace industry at Boeing into pastoral ministry, international missions, and ultimately into a ministry focused on helping men break free from pornography addiction and rebuild trust in their marriages through 90-21 Coaching.

The Danger of Living a Double Life

One of the most powerful moments in the conversation came when Scott described how exhausting it was to maintain two worlds: a public life and a hidden private struggle.

Many Christian men know this tension well. They love Jesus. They serve others. They genuinely desire holiness. Yet hidden habits continue to pull them into cycles of guilt, shame, and isolation.

Pornography addiction in the church is far more common than most people realize. The problem is not only the addiction itself, but the silence surrounding it. Too many men believe they are alone, too broken, or beyond restoration.

But secrecy is where bondage grows strongest.

Confession Is Often the First Step Toward Freedom

Everything changed the moment Scott sent a “911” text to his pastor and confessed the truth. That confession began a painful process, but it also became the doorway to healing.

Many believers fear confession because they assume it will only bring destruction. While consequences are real, confession also breaks the power of hidden sin. Scripture reminds us that healing begins when darkness is brought into the light.

James 5:16 says:

“Confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed.”

Confession is not weakness. It is surrender.

Understanding Grace Personally

One of the hardest parts of Scott’s journey was accepting that God’s forgiveness applied to him too.

Many Christians intellectually believe in grace for others while struggling to receive it personally. Shame convinces people they are uniquely disqualified from redemption.

But the Gospel says otherwise.

Jesus did not die only for respectable sins. He came to redeem broken hearts, restore wounded lives, and heal what shame has destroyed.

Over time, through Scripture, worship, counseling, and the support of his church community, Scott began to understand that the blood of Christ was sufficient even for his deepest failures.

Healing Requires More Than Behavior Modification

A major turning point came when Scott realized the issue was not merely behavior. It was a heart issue.

Many men attempt to fight pornography through willpower alone. They create rules, filters, and accountability systems but never allow God to address the deeper wounds beneath the addiction.

True freedom requires heart transformation.

Jesus said in Matthew 15:19 that sinful actions flow from the heart. Lasting healing happens when Christ is invited into the deepest places of pain, insecurity, fear, rejection, and brokenness.

The goal is not simply avoiding sin. The goal is wholehearted surrender.

Why the Church Must Talk About This

Pornography addiction affects pastors, leaders, husbands, business owners, and young men across every denomination and background. Yet many churches still avoid honest conversations about it.

Silence creates isolation. Isolation strengthens addiction.

The Church should be the safest place for repentance, healing, discipleship, and restoration. Not a place where people hide behind appearances while privately falling apart.

This conversation is not about condemnation. It is about freedom.

How 90-21 Coaching Helps Men Find Freedom

After walking through confession, counseling, accountability, and healing, Scott Marsh launched 90-21 Coaching to help other men find freedom from pornography addiction and begin restoring broken trust in their marriages.

Scott offers confidential one-on-one coaching specifically designed for Christian men battling pornography and sexual sin. His primary freedom program includes guided coaching, biblical discipleship, accountability, and practical steps toward lasting change.

He also developed a second coaching program focused on rebuilding trust after betrayal, helping men better understand the healing journey their wives are walking through and how restoration can begin inside the marriage relationship.

What makes Scott’s coaching unique is that it comes from lived experience. He is not speaking theoretically. He walked through the collapse, the confession, the shame, the consequences, and ultimately the restoration himself.

Today, his mission is simple: help men stop hiding and start healing.

There Is Hope for Restoration

One of the most encouraging parts of Scott’s story is that restoration is possible.

After walking through confession, counseling, accountability, and healing, Scott and his wife remained together and began rebuilding trust step by step. Today, he continues helping other men find freedom and restoration through 9021 Coaching.

God still restores people.
God still heals marriages.
God still redeems broken stories.

No one is beyond His reach.

Final Encouragement

If you are secretly battling pornography addiction or hidden sin, do not continue suffering in silence.

Talk to someone.
Confess.
Seek help.
Bring the struggle into the light.

Freedom begins where secrecy ends.

And no matter how far someone has fallen, the grace of Jesus is still greater.

Some testimonies remind you that the Gospel is not just theory. It is power.

In this episode of the 2,000 Cubit Rule podcast, Mark Rowan sat down with Benard Oguti, founder of Ripefields Global Ministries, for a conversation about salvation, spiritual warfare, missions, and the transforming power of Jesus Christ.

Benard’s story begins in rural Uganda, surrounded by deep spiritual darkness, poverty, and brokenness. Yet through God’s grace, mentorship, and the power of salvation, his life was radically redirected toward the mission field.

Growing Up Around Witchcraft in Uganda

Benard openly shared that his grandfather practiced witchcraft and intended for him to inherit that legacy.

For many Western listeners, stories like this may seem distant or symbolic. In many parts of Africa, however, witchcraft and spiritual oppression are viewed as very real parts of daily life. Benard described growing up in an environment where fear, spiritual bondage, and broken family structures were common realities.

His parents divorced before he was born, and much of his early life was marked by instability and rejection. At one point, after being falsely accused of theft as a child, he spent three days hiding in the bush before a relative arrived and took him to the city to begin a completely different path.

That moment became one of the first major turning points in his life.

The Power of Salvation Changes Everything

Though Benard grew up around Christianity, he said his true personal encounter with God came in 2015.

He described going through intense spiritual battles and seasons of deliverance as he fully surrendered his life to Christ. Through prayer, fasting, discipleship, and mentorship, God began breaking chains from generations of darkness.

One of the most powerful parts of the conversation was hearing how deeply mentorship shaped his life. Again and again, God brought people alongside him to teach, guide, encourage, and disciple him.

Benard reflected on how nearly every major stage of his growth involved someone investing in him spiritually.

That pattern eventually shaped the vision behind his ministry.

Why Benard Oguti Started Ripefields Global Ministries

As Benard continued growing in his faith, he developed a deep passion for evangelism and missionary work. He often found himself preaching in empty fields, practicing sermons to trees and grass long before he ever preached to crowds.

Over time, God clarified the calling.

Drawing inspiration from John 4:35, “Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest,” Benard launched Ripefields Global Ministries with a vision to mobilize believers for evangelism, discipleship, and missions in unreached regions.

The ministry focuses heavily on:

Evangelism crusades

Mobilizing churches and young missionaries

Discipleship training

Reaching rural and unreached communities

Christian leadership development

Rather than focusing only on large cities, Benard believes God is calling believers into overlooked places where the Gospel has not fully reached.

Christian Education and Discipleship in Uganda

Another major theme of the conversation was education.

Benard now works alongside Christian schools in Uganda, helping strengthen leadership and expand access to Christ-centered education.

Coming from a background where education was not prioritized, he understands firsthand how learning can completely transform a person’s future.

But for Benard, education is not simply about economic advancement.

It is about discipleship.

It is about helping children encounter Jesus while equipping them with the tools to flourish in life and leadership.

That heart for discipleship strongly connects with the broader mission of SheepFeast and the vision of seeing lives transformed through both spiritual and practical equipping.

Spiritual Warfare Is Real, But So Is God’s Power

One of the strongest moments in the interview came when Benard spoke about confronting witchcraft directly during evangelism outreaches in Uganda.

He shared stories of witch doctors opposing crusades, threatening believers, and openly challenging Christian missionaries.

Yet through prayer and boldness, many people still came to Christ.

Benard reminded listeners that while spiritual darkness may manifest differently around the world, believers everywhere are called to stand firm and demonstrate the power of God.

His message was simple but important:

“Show up.”

Whether the battle is witchcraft, addiction, pornography, fear, materialism, or deception, Christians are called to bring light into darkness through the Gospel.

Mobilizing the Next Generation for the Great Commission

Today, Benard is helping mobilize hundreds of missionaries and church leaders across Uganda for evangelism crusades and discipleship efforts.

His vision is not to build a personal platform.

It is to raise up laborers for the harvest.

That burden for the next generation runs throughout the entire conversation. Benard repeatedly emphasized the need for young believers to ask God why they are here and what role they are meant to play in the Great Commission.

His story is a powerful reminder that God can take someone from extreme darkness and use them to impact nations.

Final Thoughts

The testimony of Benard Oguti is ultimately a story about redemption, purpose, and obedience.

God rescued him from spiritual darkness, surrounded him with mentors, strengthened him through discipleship, and called him into the mission field to preach Christ boldly.

And that same Gospel is still transforming lives today.
